Hymn: Great is Thy Faithfulness

‘GREAT is Thy faithfulness’, O God my Father,
there is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
as Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

‘Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!’
Morning by morning new mercies I see!
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided –
‘Great is Thy faithfulness’, Lord, unto me!

2 Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
sun, moon and stars in their courses above,
join with all nature in manifold witness
to Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

3 Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide,
strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

WHEN peace, like a river, attendeth my way,
when sorrows, like sea-billows, roll,
whatever my lot, Thou hast taught me to say,
‘It is well, it is well with my soul.’

2 Though Satan should buffet, though trials should come,
let this blest assurance control,
that Christ has regarded my helpless estate,
and has shed His own blood for my soul.

3 My sin – O the bliss of this glorious thought! –
my sin, not in part, but the whole,
is nailed to His cross, and I bear it no more:
praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!

4 For me be it Christ, be it Christ hence to live!
If Jordan above me shall roll,
no pang shall be mine, for in death as in life
Thou wilt whisper Thy peace to my soul.

5 But, Lord, ’tis for Thee, for Thy coming, we wait;
the sky, not the grave, is our goal;
O trump of the angel! O voice of the Lord!
