Our Church Logo

What does the logo mean?

Well clearly we are in Waterside and the logo represents water. But there’s much more:

1 In the creation account in Genesis 1 we learn that after God created light and night and day, He divided the waters, making sea and land.

2 When God judged the world for the wickedness of the people, He instructed Noah how to build an ark, which then floated on the water. The logo represents the shape of a boat.

3 Later, when Moses was a baby, he floated in a little ark, a miniature boat, in the bulrushes.

4 When Moses was grown up, he was chosen to lead the Hebrews out of captivity in Egypt and safely provided a dry walkway through the sea for them to escape.

5 Some 40 years later, God gave instructions for how the people should worship Him, and this included the use of water, poured into a ‘laver’, the shape of our logo. (Exodus 30).

6 The Lord Jesus was baptised in water. (Matthew 3).

7 Many of the accounts of the life and ministry of the Lord Jesus and His disciples took place by the water, and indeed Jesus walked on the water; our logo represents a boat from which He preached. (Matthew 14).

Water is mentioned over 600 times in the Bible, from Genesis 1 right through to Revelation chapter 21, and the Lord Jesus Christ said to the woman at the well: “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life”.

Our prayer is that all who read this page will seek the Lord Jesus and find the water of everlasting life.
